Backup - "Could not save backup files" during back up

 

Description:

The following error message appears when you back up a device with iMazing:

"Cannot back up your device.

 Details: Could not save backup files"

 

Solutions:

This error message appears because iMazing cannot save files to your computer's hard drive or external hard drive.

This can happen for one of the following reasons:

  • You are using an external hard drive or NAS and the drive has been disconnected from your computer during the back up process. Make sure to not disconnect your hard drive during the backup, check that your cable condition is good, connect it to your computer to an other USB port. If it's a network drive, make sure that your network connection is stable and that no disconnection occurs during the backup.
  • Your external drive is formatted with an unsupported format. On PC you need an hard drive formatted as NTFS. On Mac your hard drive needs to be formatted as Mac OS Journaled or APFS.
