Transfer Photo & Video to Computer

The following article is outdated. You can view the updated guide here.

There are two types of pictures and movies stored onto iPhones, iPads or iPods: the ones that have been captured with the device itself and the ones that have been imported via an iTunes sync.
Depending on the type of pictures and videos you want to transfer to your computer from the device they will be located in different places in the device and hence you will access them via different buttons in the right navigation pane in DiskAid:

Click on the Camera Roll icon

To transfer pictures that have been captured with the device itself using it’s internal camera.

Thumbnails will appear in the browser window in DiskAid directly.

Select them and click "Copy  to computer" or simply drag your selection to the desktop.

Click on the Photos app icon

To transfer photo album contants that have been synced to the device.

Folders containing the image files will show in the browser.

Select the folders or individual image files and click "Copy  to computer" or simply drag your selection to the desktop.

Note: Devices not running iOS 5 need the free PicsAid to copy photos that have been imported via an iTunes sync.
