iMazing does not recognise my device (Windows)

iMazing relies on Apple drivers to recognise your device. If iMazing does not recognise your device then it's very likely that your Apple drivers are not up to date.

iTunes downloaded from the Microsoft Store

If you've installed iTunes from the Microsoft Store, chances are that it is causing issues with iMazing. Please uninstall it and download the standalone version directly from Apple's website or take a look at the following WikiHow article which details the entire process: https://www.wikihow.com/Install-the-Standalone-Version-of-iTunes-on-Windows

iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

1. Try a different USB port and/or cable. If you usually connect through a USB hub, try connecting your device directly to your computer.

2. The simplest way to update your Apple drivers is to install the latest version of iTunes.

3. If that does not fix your issue, you can reinstall Mobile Devices Services from iMazing's preferences:

Edit > Preferences... > General > Reinstall Mobile Device Services.

4. On your device, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy

5. As a last resort, please fully reinstall your Apple Components by following all of these steps, in order:

a. Uninstall iMazing
b. If you have iTunes, uninstall it
c. Uninstall Apple Software Update
d. Uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support
e. Uninstall Bonjour
f. Uninstall Apple Application Support 32 bits
g. Uninstall Apple Application Support 64 bits
h. Reboot your computer
i. If you need it, install iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
j. Reinstall iMazing: https://imazing.com/download

6. Security software (Firewalls or Antivirus) can prevent iMazing from connecting to Apple devices.

You might need to whitelist iMazing and Apple Mobile Device Service, or temporarily disable or remove your computer's security software.

In particular, you should check that no system or 3rd party tool is blocking Apple Mobile Device Service or iMazing. This includes Windows Administrative Tools Services panel:

Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Services

Make sure that the Status for Apple Mobile Device Service is Running, and Startup Type is Automatic.

And if that does not work...

The vast majority of connection issues are resolved by following these steps. If iMazing still does not recognise your device contact us and let us know that you've already followed the steps above. We're here to help!

iPod nano, iPod classic, iPod Shuffle

These iPods works a bit differently than iOS Apple devices - if you are having trouble getting the device to show up in iMazing, please apply the following steps:

1. Make sure that the standalone version of iTunes is installed and up to date on your PC (https://www.wikihow.com/Install-the-Standalone-Version-of-iTunes-on-Windows)

2. Try a different USB port and/or cable. If you usually connect through a USB hub, try connecting your device directly to your computer.

3. Enable Disk Use in iTunes

a. Open iTunes and make sure your iPod shows up there.
b. Once iTunes picks up your iPod, select it and make sure the "Enable Disk Use" checkbox is checked.
c. Restart iMazing, your iPod should now show up after a few seconds.

4. You most likely have an incomplete installation of Apple drivers.

Please follow the instructions in the following article.
